Calvia
is a delightful and peaceful village nestling in open
countryside towards the mountains of Mallorca just five
minutes drive away up from Palma Nova. It has quaint old
stone houses, narrow streets, a few small shops and a
handful of very nice cafes and restaurants. The village
now has the highest property values on the island and
there are few available for holiday rental.
One, however, that is available albeit only for the
months of July and August is this luxury,
designer-furnished 110-year-old 3-bedroomed "finca", on
the outskirts of the village, but within walking
distance. The property is fully air-conditioned, is
extremely well-appointed and has its own private 9 x 5
metre swimming pool.
Ground Floor:
Double
solid-oak entrance doors open into an entrance vestibule
in which is an open fire-place in front of which are two
exquisite chairs. There is a stocked book-case, a
telephone and fax machine.
Adjoining the entrance hall is a wc and wash-basin, then
a utility room with a washing machine, dryer, iron &
ironing board, hot & cold drinking water dispenser and a
sink.
Two steps down from the entrance is the kitchen and
dining area. The kitchen has been recently re-fitted to
the highest standards and has an oven with five hobs, a
refrigerator, freezer, microwave, dishwasher,
wine-cooler and all the usual appliances including a
coffee percolator, toaster, kettle etc. Plenty of
crockery, cutlery and drinking glasses are provided.
The thick glass dining table seats six persons.
The adjoining living area has two comfortable sofas, a
giant-size coffee table, large flat-screen TV showing
all Sky programmes including Movies & Sports channels as
well as BBC & ITV. There is also a DVD, telephone and a
surround-sound music system.
First Floor:
The
air-conditioned master bedroom has a large double bed,
Sky satellite TV, a DVD player, a radio-alarm &
telephone with ADSL wireless internet. There are ample
built-in wardrobes. The window overlooks the gardens and
the pool. Adjoining this bedroom is a dressing area with
more built-in wardrobes. This leads to a beautiful
bathroom which has a large and shaped Jacuzzi bathtub
(with a shower fitting), two wash-basins, a wc, bidet
and hair-dryer. The bathroom also offers panoramic views
over the surrounding countryside.
The second bedroom. also air-conditioned, has a double
bed, built-in wardrobes and, by the window, a cozy seat
overlooking the gardens and pool.
The third bedroom has a single bed, a built-in wardrobe
and a delightful bay window, again overlooking the pool
and gardens.
The second bathroom has a walk-in shower, wash-basin and
wc.
Quality linens and towels are of course provided, as is
a cot & high chair if requested.
The
Grounds:
Accessed through any of three sets of doors leading from
the kitchen, dining area and lounge is a patio on which
is a large covered seating area, a built-in BBQ and a
refrigerator. There is an additional outside metal
dining table seating 6.
The sizeable gardens, illuminated at night, are well
cared for with numerous types of flowering plants and
shrubs as well as several palm, lemon, cactus and almond
trees. The centre-piece is the rectangular 30 ft x 16 ft
swimming pool., next to which is an old stone well which
supplies the house with its running water!
